Her majesty the pine forest......

Standing beneath these giants I am
reminded why I love the forest
The forest asks nothing
in return for that
which it gives

Selfishly covering me from the sun
the snow
the rain
So
to pay back for what I'm given
I sit and listen
for awhile

And the pines have so much
to say
Yet I have time

I've listened as she fights
off the wicked
winds that would break
us both
and often does

And I listened when she whispers
softly little secrets
that she speaks
just for me
I've felt the sun's warmth of her bark on
new a spring day

And I've seen the heavy snows that
tear at her limbs
And the ravaging of
age at her feet
where the needles lay
golden and dying

She is truly majestic

My memories of the pine forest was the silence as our footfalls were hushed by the pine needles - oh, yes! And the searching for mushrooms, it was a great place to find them. Lovely poem.

Voted up and awesome. You have done this so creatively I can hear the winds swishing through the pines and smell that delightful pine aroma. Enjoyed.
