The velvet glove

"When I was a boy I had a fever"-Pink Floyd-

When he was just a boy

He saw it all around

How men chased after women

Who put them in the ground

His mother ruled his father

She said that it was love

She used an iron fist

Inside a velvet glove

When he became a man

And women filled his mind

His little head took over

The big one had gone blind

The paradox he lived with

Would never be resolved

The pull of lust and need

But never get involved

He picked them up and used them

Then cruelly let them down

The women he made love to

The women in the ground

What he could never see

Till it was much to late

Was why his lust and need

Had turned to quiet hate

He died alone this man

Consumed by memories

Of his mother's iron fist

Which caused such misery

...................feed your head..................

So ironic Dean, I can feel the sadness of your observations here. Reminds me of a few people I've known, some people walk around with so much empty space there between their ears. Ug.

Great poem, thanks for taking us with you.

Ben

Thanks for the visit Ben.It's sad how childhood experience can bring about so much pain.

Amen to that brother! Even to this day, literarally a few hours ago, I was dealing with that crap on some level. Take solace in knowing though that most everyone goes through something like it. Try to redirect (as I try and do and I'm sure you try and do) better to aim for what we want then let the past churn our guts too much eh? Aw right done feeding my daughter I'm going on break (back to bed).

Cheers Dean,

Ben

Yeah, that's true... there's a reason why men really really hate women (and there are some men too who are afraid of and/or submissive to women) -- domineering mother who's also abusive to the father. I love your rhyming. Voted up. :)

Reminds me of my ex-husband, and he had the most wonderful mother around. Bet yours is, too. Voted up
