The old man in my dream

The old man in my dream

Though the love was broken but i am still very much grateful to God.
Though the love was broken but i am still very much grateful to God.

The old man in my dream.

Just at 61, prime and healthy
Did everything healthy men do
Drove to and fro to everywhere
One of the most beautiful hearts
Could remember that lonely night
The butterfly lay in the spider's web
And she wept uncontrollably

Lord, bring back the complete part of my life

Twenty one years o; gone so quick
One day i saw a man in my dream
He has a gray hair and walked with stick
He preferred the chewing stick to brush
Washing his face direct from the tap
Speaking with a voice so familiar to me
And i remembered all the loneliness

Its been quite some time but i have been around all the while

I remembered all the tears that rolled down
I remembered the white glass gasket
I remembered everyone saying goodbye
I remembered loosing everything
I remembered the dark six feet
It was all a dream

The old man in my dream

We had joy
We had fun
We had hope
We had everything

Tough you are gone Papa
Your legacies are still here
You would have been 82 by now
The old man in my dream

In the evergreen memory of my late Father,
Mr R.A. Amobi.
(1928-1989)
