The perfection of a scar

Its always there to remind you without
even looking for it
And yet .....go ahead touch it ........
run your finger over the edges
of the stitching
feel the smooth and
unblemished new growth unchanging
in time

And whether or not you can cover it
so no one else can see
They know
by the way you stand
by the knowing look you have
when all else are smiling
or crying

You just stand emotionless and
watch as everyone else
reacts
And yet you see things in the side
of your vision that
are never quite clear
Just slightly out of
focus

And you can walk away from
all of them too just as if
they don't matter
at all
But they do
and it does
and you are
scarred
Sometimes beyond
recognition

Very deep poem here, some wounds never heal for sure, and many are only skin deep and appear to fade away. Those I find for myself to be the worst scars of them all, is that of the emotional ones that have deeply embedded harsh wounds on that of the fragile mind, eventually wounding ones heart.

Your poem brings fourth some deep emotions and I sensed my own memories of various experiences of my past while reading it. Nice poetic release. Thumbs up and sharing!

I agree with Mike..... There are Physical scars and the emotional ones. One runs deeper than the other. And your poem depicts both with an enigmatic flow. Beautifully written, Ed! Voting up and across the board!!

Some people see scars, and it is wounding they remember. To me they are proof of the fact that there is healing as Rumi says:

The wound is the place where the Light enters you.

I voted up.Awesome and a thought provoking poem.I loved it.

Have a nice day!

There is a part of me that can identify with this verse and probably always will. It's funny...sometimes are scars are more visible to others than ourselves. Nicely done! ~WB

I have many scars, some physical, most emotional. But they are a part of what makes you who you are. Life experiences sometimes leave scars but its up to us to face them, learn from them, wear them proudly, or let them burden us, and keep us from ever trying something again.

The peripheral vision brings addd dimension to your repertoire, Ed, - it does not diminish it.

If life mutilates

My soul,

The rips

Are passageways

For Light.

Voted up. I do believe that sometimes the emotional scars are much more painful than the physical scars. Physical scars can fade but emotional scars remain deep in the heart and soul and it's so very hard to make it not matter.

I'm glad IM shared this one, it's a stitch. Oops, not the right word. Well, let's just say it's a special event reminder. I'm wearing some I will never forget, but I have learned from each of them. I do find the internal ones are the most difficult to mend. Perhaps it's because we don't allow them to see the light of day!

Thank you ahorseback!

Voted up and beautiful!
