This tragedy of poetry

Like sitting across the table from a "friend" when
you really need one
knowing that for all your pleading with
all the talk all the sharing
that you have done

That the one that never listens is here again
we all have a friend like that
they do it over and over again
enough I scream enough
to realize that
words have spoken away
without an end
or a friend

Oh Ed, this one is so sad. We've all got people in our lives that seem to never listen to what we have to say. And it can get frustrating if they keep coming back with the same complaints. However, I've come to realize that many times, these people are really just looking for love and they receive it differently than I give and receive it. In order to really help, I have to alter my perceptions and my ways of giving. I've found that people needing to talk are not looking for advice or change according to the wills and whims of others. They have to change it themselves and probably have intention to do so. What matters at that moment is their current feelings being understood and feeling loved by someone they love who is just listening and loving those people as they are in that moment, unconditionally. Love is more powerful than anything else. It helps more than anything else. It motivates the change and so much more. Love is always the answer, as our beautiful Faith Reaper reminded me just the other day on my love languages hub - which now that I think about it, this comment of mine fits right in with.

Have a beautiful day. Sending hugs and warmth your way.

Rather stark but brilliant.

It is a tragedy when poetry is not appreciated, but I am a lover of poetry and enjoy your poetic thoughts. Not only do I enjoy, I see the many layers you sometimes convey..

Hi Shannie , Always having been a good listener I have come to realize that as a rather private guy , that sometimes , I have painted myself into a corner , You my dear have an awesome and compassionate soul ! Thank you for caring and reading ! I am fine and these often seemingly desperate lines are but the conflictions of a poet . .........Thanks for having an awesome soul !

Nice one. I find that so many don't listen. The're present in the physical, but just not there ...too busy with themselves to give time to us

Nature of growth, I suppose. Teaches us not to expect; to become attached ...

Meaningful poem.
