It's too Late ..........

He wears it like a battle shield
this solitude
this plague of alone
No matter if he's with a lover
a friend or unknown

Within the circle of friends or in a paragon
of ecstasies domain
Alone is his nature and unshared
he'll remain

This lover begged him in anger
"say something..... do you love me ...speak!
Yet he stands unshaken......
the love's ties too weak

Look me in the eye's is all he
can ask of her for now
That's all he ever wanted ........
too bad she didn't know

It's never too late; where one door closes another opens. The problem is that most stare at the closed door for so long that they do not notice when another opens. Just make sure you do not miss the opportunity next time.

A haunting image...and an even more ethereal poem.

Great writing! I'm moved to give you a thumbs up, awesome, and beautiful acknowledgment.

Thank you for the privilege!

I loved the poem just for the words alone which were touching. Is it about the sea???? Somewhere I have read these words but forgotten where they come from - The sea , the sea which I love more than thee....

You sound like you have the soul of a cowboy..always alone - even in a crowd. I'm much the same...loved this..

Sometimes what we view as "too late" means it was not meant to be. Voted up and beautiful of course. :)

I absolutely love this and the picture of the underwater stone form is just perfect. Such a wonderful and rich collection of words to savor - solitude, plague, paragon, ecstasies - I am all but swooning.

Hope all is well with you. :) SHARING

Sometimes we need to knock on the door to let it open from the other side!

A look in the eye is one such knock!

Beautiful Write Rick!
