The Price (poem)
The drifting dew which welcomed her to night
The echoes where her heart once use to be
The song how could this have happened to me
All cast their veils on Joys she had in sight
-
Now sorrow’s ears does keep her company
Sheer emptiness draws shadows to her light
While silent scents from past now mark her plight
She waits for promised mercy to be free
-
Why did he leave me comes her painful cry
As cold confusion takes her to abyss
Of shattered hopes and lies of yesterday
-
Then gentle sleep which fate had happened by
Did claim her with the sweetness of its kiss
The price she paid for dream that’s on its way
