The River Of Life (poem)

By river of life what flowers there grow

Oasis in time what secrets there flow

Alone in this desert that only we know

Please sing me of love and then I must go

The scent of her Joy so eager to share

The song from her lips brought promise to air

The hope in my heart it now lingers there

The world I once knew is drifting somewhere

It’s here by this river my dreams did grow

Each sweet memory her kisses did air

If peace can be found surely it was there

Wherever she leads me gladly I’ll go

What madness of mind does this river share

That moments of love again through me flow

And makes me rethink the truth that I know

The world I once knew is waiting somewhere

Just this one last sip before I must go

To finally rest where only you know

The labors I bear away from me flow

By river of life what flowers there grow

okay one more thing to think about: Only 1% of the earth's water is drinkable.

So, if only 1% is drinkable, you're saying that only 1% are kissable, or lovable? I'll go with that! : ) Great job, mh.

RC, I have been noticing your comments, and they are just as brilliant as your writing dear one, and so very perceptive.

Sorry, Mh, yes, I am going with what RC commented, as it is perfect, and I can't add much to it.

Stunning as always, and that video is as well. Always love Sting . . . sweet intoxication . . . oh yes on that one!

God bless. In His Love, Faith Reaper

Such a beautifully symbolic representation of the path true love found and lost can carve.

I picked this one because of your beautiful photo...and title. I gathered, right or wrong, that the river water was hallucinatory, then that last sip brought his demise. So, his previous life, love was fantasy...or real?

Could be both? Beautiful expression of thoughts in your poetry. And now...his labors are flowing away... Wow!

Quite lovely. Most of my life I have disliked and avoided rhyming poems, however, my own old age and Hubber "arb" have persuaded me to give them another chance. With respect to this poem, I am very glad I did. Theresa
