There Was A Gathering

A Gathering

The stars above were fading fast,

nothing would last,

she would splash through an icy stream,

not in reality,

but in a nightmare, or in a dream,

against her skin she felt a breeze,

she could see a mist rising

amongst the dark gray trees,

the birds had begun,

the air was cold and fresh,

as the moon gave way to the sun,

she continued with caution, at best,

as her heart kept hammering

away at her chest,

her voice,

once desperate and angry,

without a choice,

it was calm,

her lips cold and moist,

then it hit her,

it was all so clear,

she worried about the fear,

death was near,

she felt it as it floated in the air,

there was a gathering of shadows that day,

she was tired beyond endurance,

as her soul would now rest and pray.
