There are Heroes (a poem of inspiration)

There's a hero within us each...
There's a hero within us each...
True heroes never ask for praise...
True heroes never ask for praise...
There is a hero within every woman and man..
There is a hero within every woman and man..
The good one hero may do is without a number...
The good one hero may do is without a number...
A hero may receive his or her reward in knowing that they count and feel good about what they do...
A hero may receive his or her reward in knowing that they count and feel good about what they do...
Heroes are hidden within in every bright spirit...only to come out in times of need...
Heroes are hidden within in every bright spirit...only to come out in times of need...

There are heroes among us,

Many, just a common man,

They work their shifts without complaint,

Doing all that they can.

Some may work in hospitals,

As others patrol the streets,

Those who teach our children,

No challenge ever defeats.

Each woman and man, giving their all,

Having no reward, or to ask,

The only praise concealed by each,

Are hearts to hold them fast.

A badge of courage worn by all,

Where medals of gold reside,

Minds are made, in strength to act,

Found there deep inside.

A life is saved, a child rescued,

without a photo, or written line,

The satisfaction held by this,

To reflect their lives, so fine.

Every hero, heroine, not always receives,

The credit that's theirs, so due,

They are the truest of champions,

Bold in every thing they do.

So few have shouldered burdens of all,

These to continue until this day,

Perform their jobs, a duty, understood,

And seen as no other way.

True heroes give of themselves and more,

For all that's within their reach,

They perform in stride, where all spirits reside,

To be found within us each.

This rose is for our special heroes so that they will know that they make a big difference in our lives...

Yes. Heros are generally silent. They work behind the scenes. Thank you here. More poems like this needed.

Such a wonderful message that should be recited daily. Love the accompanying zinnia, sunflower, portaluca, and tulips, my friend!

Most of the heroes your describe are probably never recognized, but God knows what they do and great will be their reward. Thank you for a lovely, encouraging poem - and the lovely images, too.

I really like this poem, not only for a strong message but a natural rhythm and rhyme. Rated up and more.

Yes, yes it's been said, The Sun silently warms and nourishes the Earth, without expecting praise or adulation. Yet, on our end, I believe we need to call attention to these heroic acts in our midst (e.g. we can acknowledge with as simple as a sincere thank you) so as to provide affirmation, which is a human essential, and highlight the positive instead of having people be inundated by the usual bad news that media plays up loud. Thanks for the usual inspiration, Whonu.
