There are Heroes (a poem of inspiration)
There are heroes among us,
Many, just a common man,
They work their shifts without complaint,
Doing all that they can.
Some may work in hospitals,
As others patrol the streets,
Those who teach our children,
No challenge ever defeats.
Each woman and man, giving their all,
Having no reward, or to ask,
The only praise concealed by each,
Are hearts to hold them fast.
A badge of courage worn by all,
Where medals of gold reside,
Minds are made, in strength to act,
Found there deep inside.
A life is saved, a child rescued,
without a photo, or written line,
The satisfaction held by this,
To reflect their lives, so fine.
Every hero, heroine, not always receives,
The credit that's theirs, so due,
They are the truest of champions,
Bold in every thing they do.
So few have shouldered burdens of all,
These to continue until this day,
Perform their jobs, a duty, understood,
And seen as no other way.
True heroes give of themselves and more,
For all that's within their reach,
They perform in stride, where all spirits reside,
To be found within us each.
