Therein the Knowing......

Once I too was young and in the
all knowing trances
And overnight became an elder
in truth I danced all the dances

Instant everything now.... the day too
I wouldn't tell any lies now
But know this ....in an instant you'll be sixty
and in comparison life travels slow

I wasted far too much ......time ..love...
everything on the list
If I could tell you one thing I know
for sure .....it is this

You won't get one more chance to
turn around as you walk
You won't get another lifetime
no matter how much you balk

Live within the smallest moment
touch the flowers you now walk by
Tomorrow it will all be over ........
that's all that's free ...... I sigh

Next time you see mother .......
tell her that you know
When you smile again at your Father
tell him you love him so

The time has all run out there is no
door number two
So back up ...turn around ....spend some time
in the moment before it's through

    I wish I could go back for a while .......just a while .....I would spend a lot more time being with  those now gone ......and a lot less time running on life's treadmill .........and yet today as I watch so many others doing those same things !    I wonder .....what was time meant for ........for just that ?   For all of us to miss out on living, loving ,laughing.........?  Go, Go , Go ......back now and tell someone important , that you love them!   Life will still be there when you're through.  Although   , "they" may not be.........   :-}

The sad thing is that we all know this, although I know for me at least I still get caught up in the go,go,go. Time for me too will be a cruel reminder and guilt will be the only thing wrapped aroung my heart when my days draw to an end here. I always do know too that heaven will be good to me and all my loved ones there! I am still figuring a way to let go of all the pain and grudges with lots of prayers. I need to set my words and all the things I intend to do in action. That's the key for us dad....no more procrastination! I absolutely love you as I always have. No matter the attitudes and times of noncommunication...see we are so lucky that we both know what lies in the others heart and mind. Still we need to share and say I love you. Beautiful...your daughter. Ps I hope you still tell our lost loved ones you love them ,and pray for them....prayer to them is like singing songs for them in heaven!

To me what makes life of value is the love we have with our family, mate, friends, the little moments where we may eat popcorn while watching TV, and expressing love.

Your daughter's comments are right on... I still tell my Mother who is in the other world, and loved ones, that I love them, and talk to them as I know they can hear us, the spirit is after all eternal.

BTW, my s/o joined Hubpages, thought I would share the link to his first hub, as he will be writing poetry as well later on. :)

As usual thanks for sharing your poetry and messages.

This writing so tells the truth. Every moment is a treasure and so often we pass it by. We focus on the little irritations and leave the important things, people and love, behind.

Thank you for this poignant reminder to slow down, spend time and show love and compassion.

Daddysgirl , We all know this! ,there are small moments waiting for us , a flower to attend , a breeze to lift the branches and cool our skin, the birds to sing of serenity and peace , one meandering stream gurgling in the background. Or a day at the shoreline. it's important to still steal moments for us all! I love you sweety ,oxoxoxoxoxoxoxo Dad

I wonder how many would really change their lives if hindsight were an option? It seems we are born into a certain place to certain parents and genetics and upbringing and experience guide us. Adolescence is a time of turmoil and most don't arrive at adulthood unscathed. As humans, we will make mistakes, but it is not always a negative, if we learn. Who has not succumbed to the rat race eventually out of necessity? And, if we are destined to have a long life, hopefully, we find the best in life is not something bought. For most of us, it takes a lifetime. Beautifully worded piece, ahorseback, that gives much food for thought.

AH- Thanks for the mail. I love for you your first comment by your daughter- daddysgirl. This is the stuff of a real life. I wish that my choices could have been better but they are better now. The gold ring of the merrygoround should not be bling. More prayers to the heavens will make the clouds sing. Great poem.
