These Dog Days - Poem

These Dog Days are long and hot

Makes me wish to find a spot

To cool myself; maybe find a breeze

Under the shade of some giant trees

To lay back and rest a bit

Or grab a cold drink and sit

Pondering some cooler days,

Avoiding the sun’s blistering rays.

Feeling lazy in this heat

Cooling the bottoms of my feet

After dashing across the burning walk

It’s just too hot to even talk.

Watching the sun slide down the sky

While ice cream melts, despite how I try

To lick the cone quick and clean

As the gooey liquid runs in a stream

Down my hands and arms it stays,

Stuck like glue on these Dog Days

Nice poem, reminds me of my kids and also of times in the past when I had an ice cream cone. Memories are good to share.

Thank you Lee,

Although we are enjoying spring weather at this time, it won't be long before those Dog Days will be upon us once again.
