Four Walls (Poem)

Looking out through the confinement of your mind.
Looking out through the confinement of your mind.

Like a passing storm,

like a war ravaged battlefield,

such conflict,

such bloodshed,

I'm at war with myself.

I get winded by a blow,

I can't take a punch,

a storm has descended within me,

thoughts pass by like bullets,

cutting,tearing,shredding

through the open spaces of my brain.

In the fields of my mind,

the ocean of my soul,

I look for a way out,

four walls around me,

and an open sky above.

I try to escape.

My only escape is through words.

Isolation is the story of a lost soul whose misadventures fail to be put onto paper.
Isolation is the story of a lost soul whose misadventures fail to be put onto paper.

This is one of those poems that shake you out of your stupor. The imagery is so wonderfully disturbing. It really brings out the pain, frustration and hopelessness that one feels at times. My favorite line is, "My only escape is through words." Amazing!

Awesome. Great imagery in describing the turmoil that sometimes dwells within us. Turmoil from addiction, broken relationships, depression, and on and on. A wide array of people can relate to your well crafted words here in this piece. Great job. Voted up awesome and sharing.
