This Day's End

This Day's End

Rain is pelting the window
as I sit here upon my bed
and thoughts so philosophical
ramble about in my head.

The candle that burns at my bedside
is reflecting a warm amber glow.
Its flame is dancing, quite graceful
In a delicate sensuous show.

My heart is warm and cozy
Contentment is crooning within...
my eyes are drifting to drowsy
as the soft tug of sleep does begin.

And I bow my head for a moment
and close my eyes in prayer
as feelings of peace and fulfillment
embrace me with gentlest care.

And I pause to whisper a thank you
for the gift of another day...
and the blessings beyond my counting
that fill my spirit's cache.

Not much calms this impatient, city bound soul of mine, but this enticing poem does just that. A very unusual feeling to be at peace with the world. I like it, although a bit off balance.

Once again you guide through a new life experience my friend...

This was like a lullaby poem. Writing poetry usually jacks me up, but reading this made me want to snuggle back down in my covers.

You must have the most comfortable bed to make you feel this cozy. It is good to Give Thanks to the Lord. Last night I thanked Him for you!

Beautiful. Loved that you included a candle in the poem (and picture). I find candles very soothing - the scent combined with the flicker . . . Thanks for sharing.
