Morning Glory

Nestled in a valley

mist rising from the sea

Nestled in the valley

Is where I want to be

Here I stand at the waters edge

dreaming of life to come

Here and now I give this pledge

my life to be with my chum

Here I stand at the waters edge

The tide is on the turn

The clink of the stays upon the mast

This is what I yearn

Here I stand at the waters edge

The morning chorus alive

one,two ,three four, five

their song so sweet, the birds they dive

Here I stand at the waters edge

the breeze is on the water

the ripples lap onto the shore

This Morning Glory - Caught ya!

This is the life for me.

Hawkes - fanastic, beautiful, haunting. I live "on the water" or a few blocks from it..these words, that picture is spot on for the way you feel when standing by the bay..the birds, the sun, the light dancing off the water. I haven't watched the video, i will come back to that.. Thank you!

Thanks Candy, I am still waiting for my place by the sea, grew up by the front and miss it.

Loved it. The end was great. Just the other day I was dying to go to the ocean. Let the rhythmic tide wash the tears from my soul. Unfortunately I live smack dab in the middle of the country. Two days drive to the ocean :-(

Thank you for sharing, it almost took me there. :)

Oh your poem was fabulous. The only better you could do is send me an airline ticket. So next time at the end of your poem please have a bording pass that I could just print out. :)

Lovely ! I live on water's edge - the River Giscle which flows through the Maures mountains down towards the coast, past my terrace and into the Mediterrenean half a km down river - I often just stand and look at the movement of the water, it is never the same yet it is always soothing - even in a storm. Thank you for this evocative poem.

Thanks Iphi, on a promise for a retreat on the water's edge, just can't wait, You are so lucky to wake up and just be there. One day Ahhhhhhhh.

Nice poem, Hawkes! Just read another one form Lady_E. Maybe you want to look at it. That too is concerned with water. :)

Alison, thanks for the water poem, there is no place in the world I'd rather be than beside the sea - to ride the waves or just walk on the beach...
