A rose of perfection

Is not without thorns.

The ocean majestic

Is not without storms.

A sky filled with sunshine

Is not without rain.

A love that is blissful

Is not without pain.

A life that is happy

Is not without tears.

A person of courage

Is not without fears.

It's the trials of the journey

That teach us to see

Life's beauty and virtue,

Yes, they hold the key.

It's the prick of the thorn,

If the truth would be told,

That draws our attention

To blooms they enfold.

It's the vast ocean's fury

And power of the tide

That inspires awareness

Smooth sailing would hide.

The thorns of the rose

Like the ocean's great surge,

With purpose announce

Thus, their beauties emerge.

Let us celebrate thorns,

Though their prick may annoy...

Without them Life's majesty

We may fail to enjoy.

I really needed to hear the first two lines of this tonight:

A love that is blissful

Is not without pain.

A life that is happy

Is not without tears.

You have no idea.. I'm honored to have read this. The second part reminds me of one of my favourite quotes.

"The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears" ~John Vance Cheney

Fenzero, I am humbled by your words...So very often, the words that flow from my pen are as much for me as for anyone else...messages from God that I desperately need to hear. It is my honor to share those, for it is never simply about me!

And thank you TimeHealsAll. God gave me a gift for which I am eternally grateful!

Hi tnderhrt23, I have just read this early poem of yours as well as a recent one and i've got to say -the quality was there from the early Hubs. Really great poem and i will continue to dip in, reading some old and some new Hubs by you.

Thanks. Michael.
