I don't mind the storms at all ......poetry

Constant this rolling of thunderous clouds storms
and lightning crashing across the skies

Echoing on into the afternoon as if memory alone
directs the course and that all it implies

The promise of rain is delivered upon along
with the winds of impending doom

The lightning flashes hard in the storm darkness
on the papered wall in the living room

I welcome it though only rarely thinking of
the dangers of storms

The reality is storm damage here is simply
not a part of our norms

No this storm like all will pass and refresh
the green we are so known for

These emerald green hills of Vermont
from lake at the west to that river on it's eastern shore

I like the storms best through summer spring
winter or fall

No in spite of the sun and because of it too
I don't mind the storms at all

Love your poem, Ed. Our thunder storm season just left us last week and I sure miss it. We had a longer season of Earth shaking thunder and heavy rains than we have in a long time.

Enjoyed reading the poem and the memories it brings. Thanks, Ed.

What a healthy perspective about storms! They pass. Thanks for the beautiful thought in poetry.

Hello Phyllis, hope you are always well ! I do love storms, here in New England there are fairly common , one a week or so is fairly normal . A big one yesterday left a lot of rain , thunder , lightning ! Refreshing , no ?

I don't like storms because I was almost hit by lightning as a child, but I do like the rain they bring and the beauty of the rainbow afterwards.

Oh if only I could be so relaxed in storms. I think guys are better with that than us women. That's why we need our men, to make us feel safe.

Really enjoyed this poetic piece! Thanks.

Hi bluebird, I think sometimes that its the ability to give oneself over to the strengths of nature , given the chances of injury by storm and the chance to experience nature at its best - worst , is the chance of a lifetime . its amazing , you may hide under my wing !.....:-]
