Thursday, March 22nd

His victims were tied,

their mouths left opened wide,

he put two metal rails

up against the bolted doors,

he drove in the nails

which then locked the doors

from the outside,

Thursday, March 22nd

would be remembered as a horrible scene,

a terrible reality locked in a dream,

he spilled kerosene

all over the floors,

close to the locked doors,

insanity and crazy was a perfect fit,

life was disturbed by it,

as he held the match, still lit,

the doors went up like flares,

then he headed for the stairs,

and the heat shot up like steam,

he hurried along,

splashing the wooden beam

with more kerosene,

he would watch them burn if he could,

as the draperies went up like dry wood,

in seconds the smoke got to him,

he would choke and gag,

falling on a soaked,

kerosene drenched rag,

his vision and glory stalls,

as the fire roared up the walls,

and what seemed to creak and groan

was the house frame,

and ghosts from a fierce

illuminating flame

was calling his name,

the fire followed a feeding draft,

down the halls,

burning the ceiling, the plaster

and the dry walls,

the fire would consume him,

but he wouldn’t cry,

the flames teased him,

as he covered his eyes,

Thursday, March 22nd he dies,

but the victims locked in the room,

would still be alive,

after the fire they’d survive.

Attracted by the photo, I began reading and was entertained to the end. I could picture the scene from beginning to end...the end with a nice twist.

Voted up and rated awesome as it was!

You have reached , for even simple thought that some evilly entertain , must return to be corrected again, only truth stands as final and infinite. These are the pinacle of all your poems and now you shall be put in the halls of justice , with a plaque bearing your name with these words inscribed , What goes around , will always be coming around again, for justice, only truth will remain, it's in written our conscience. Can you not feel it?

He always knew that in everything one does , there are serious repercussions , regardless of the duration of time that may elapse, as I said in my own recent poem : "It's coming"

Wail good my brethren! A great poem with a thoughtful finale, which we know it's just the beginning!

Keep that trend .

God bless.

Your descriptions are so real that I saw the raging flame, smelt reek of kerosene, and herd cries.

Wow, Frank, that was riveting! I didn't see that ending coming at all. It is with finesse you take a rhyme and weave a suspenseful tale; bravo!
