To My Juliet

Long black locks flow down thy back

Slightly shining in the soft moonlight

As I stand here alone under the dark night sky

And watch the misty clouds drifting by

Thy ruby lips are looking black

And as I draw near to hold your hand

The whites of thine eyes like glowing wicks

Guide me towards you like a hexed man

Juliet, thy hand I hold, thy lips I kiss

When we embrace no feeling is missed

All the world's riches cannot buy

This special moment frozen in time

I am Romeo and will forever be

Here I stand alone when not holding thee

To roam aimlessly on this wretched Earth

We are one for I have loved thee since birth.

What more a lover would say to his love... there is no more a fantastic expression of love than this

Such a pretty and enchanting love! I wish thee to farewell! Sweet poem! Loved it!

Your very last stanza stood out, why? because many men have felt this loss and alone feeling without their true Juliet in their lives. Two people yearning for each others touch is often lost in words from far away distances. Nicely done, the impact was here in your words.

@ xstatic - Yes when I began this poem I realised I was writing as though I were Romeo. This is because all the musicians I collaborate with are male and so when I write song lyrics, I must write from a male perspective. It's interesting to get into the mind of the opposite gender and try to feel and think as they might do. I always hope I get it right. LOL Cheers and thanks for commenting xstatic.

@ Rahul - You are a Prince and the only real Romeo I have ever known.

@ Vincent Moore - Many thanks for reading my poem. My last stanza provided the contrast between the joy of having a loving affinity with one's beloved and the desolation that is inevitable when that love is absent or lost forever.

"To roam aimlessly on this wretched Earth" awaits those who become over particular as to whom they choose to love. Young love like that of Romeo and Juliet, is based on pure, heartfelt sentiment and is unconditional. These qualities are sadly diminished or lost as we age and become practical and self serving thereby replacing such pure young love with a kind which is more calculating and conditional in nature.

Voted up and awesome. Not related to Shakespeare in any way Maria? Loved this and passing it on.
