To The Martyrs

Lifeguards

To The Martyrs

Let me smolder myself today

Let me live my dreams tonight

Hold me not, I will never come back

Life is now no more in my hands

Let me die to one whom I owe

Look I just want to tell you that

That all those thorns that were in your way

I have picked them under my feet today

See no dirt will touch you now

I have cleaned your way

With my blood and sweat

The wilderness within me is giving me strength

To smash all hurdles and break all bars

The unconscious youth is left behind

My joy is no more warm, cozy bed

My loyalties, my faith, my love are with you

Don’t flow tears when I am not back

Don’t make my sacrifice a waste

Pray my soul is now in peace

Salam.

Ah, is it really how they think? No fear and only sacrificing themselves? Maybe it is but I am sure many is not.

Anyway still, it is really beautiful poem, dear. Indeed we should never waste the chances our heroes and protectors gave us with their life.

Thank you for this beautiful reminder. :)

Salam gulnazahmad, beautiful poem but Im interested in knowing what is your definition of a martyr or what does a person need to do to be a martyr. I am sure the definition is broad and expands outside the battle field. Anyways, great hub , u have the poetry talent =)

Thanks Noorin for taking concern.

Martyr is a broad term and you cannot say that a person who dies in the battlefield is the only one who could be called a martyr. In Islam a person who dies fighting for the cause of Allah is a martyr but this is only one form of it.

A woman who dies while giving birth to a child is also a martyr, a person drowned in water, died from some calamity, or people who die in the bomb blasts are also martyrs.

To me any person who dies protecting good cause is Martyr, but while I was writing this poem my mind was towards those people who die fighting for their country or faith.
