Tracks in White Snow, Where do they go?

"Tracks in White Snow; Where do they go?" was inspired by the animal snow tracks all around the forest near my home. The verse was so popular among my family and friends that I decided to publish it on Amazon.com as a children's book.

Tracks in white snow

tracks in white snow,

forest above

forest below,

I"m curious to know

where do they go?

Yo, Yellow Tomato Berry

with snowflakes looking cherry,

can you answer my query?

She said, "No not I, my deary!"

Tracks in white snow

tracks in a row

bright forest aglow,

oh, where do they go?

Perhaps Queen Anne's Lace

with her delicate grace

can point to the place. . .

oh my, that doesn't seem

to be the case!

Tracks in white snow

trees high and low

I want to say "hello"

the the critter making

paw prints that show!

Forest led me to native Aster,

nature, she has mastered

the frost on the ground

is not her disaster.

She said, "Sorry, Joe,

I don't have the answer!"

Tracks in white snow

tracks made by toes,

who's the mystery bro

making footprints in a row?

The American Cranberries caught my eye,

colored so bright with snow piled high,

juicy and sweet in a homemade pie.

Said they, "Haven't seen any critters

strolling by!"

Tracks in white snow,

hi ho, hi ho,

I'll be happy when I know

who made these tracks

everywhere I go!

Tracks in white snow,

I've searched to and fro

and still I don't know,

my sense of wonder

grows and grows!

Tracks in white snow,

white flurry that blows,

the forest has a flow

of more tracks in white snow.

Tracks in white snow

I'm feeling kinda low.

Does anybody know

who made these tracks

that clearly show?

. . . then the Stonecrop crowns

with icicles and good advice,

"Ask the Sumac trees, all wise."

Twas the first sign of hope

so didn't need to think twice!

Tracks in white snow

tracks in white snow,

forest above

forest below,

I'm curious to know

where do they go?

The Sumacs were helpful and kind,

they showed me where I could find

the animals leaving tracks behind!

I was very surprised and pleased

to discover, not one, but two kitties

making tracks in the snow under trees,

one named Khaki

and the other one Patchy!

I'm a very happy Joe

now that I finally know

my own kitties, pretty in snow,

were the critters sneaking

round down low

in the fields and forest aglow!

...you are truly an artist with the camera - and often I have wondered who or what made those tracks in the snow - and where they came from and where they might lead ...... again I have been enchanted by another world class photographic essay of yours - and this one like the last is a treasure to keep - and your poetic insight here only enhances the experience that much more ....

Lovely poem and lovely cats too!

It reminds me of a true story the children read in class about some footprints in the snow belonging to some mysterious creature.

Thanks for sharing and God bless.

I love this poem. It reminded me of a similar experience in Germany. Except my journey led me to an annoyed boar. I love the pictures as well. Thank you for sharing.

...well that was yesterday - and this is today - lol - I am just checking in with you again as your Number one fan of course and wishing you well - life on this side of Lake Erie is much like where you live I suppose - the dead of the winter - but I still these photographs and the cats too - so artfully done and with such great imagination - and on the technical side (which I am not) I think the lighting in your photography is very well done!
