The Trials of Mankind.......

Looking down at my work and tool formed
hands I wonder of the journeys of man
Is it possible to be baptized by fire and blood
is change possible ....what challenge lies at hand

A heart born of stone and raised by the rules
of the kingdom and king
Can it ever be opened ......can it ever be melded
with life .....with anything

She spoke with the knowing and understanding
of angels ....of love .....of tenderness
Her eye's looking right through me ....just a man
as I observed her slenderness

The softness of her heart .......the hardness of her
conviction......I was taken in
But I .........I am just a stone and her an angel
something inside is awakening

No....No...once again I look down at my hands days and lives
The scars and lines of broken years
isolated children .....and wives

What is this journey of man......why a world
of war ....waste ....and wanton
I would choose the angel in the garden
surrounded by laughing children

In my next life .......I want my reflection in her eye's
her body entwined in my arms
No more of this yearnings
in a garden away from harms

I thought I should explain, as I read the poetry , the stories and comprehend the ideals , the dreams and yearnings here and anywhere I read, I realize that in todays world something huge is missing all of humanity there is far too much hate , wars , genocide ......famine , hunger ......anxt and depression. And, that most of mankind is oblivious ! This is written by a man who sees alot of yearning undefined, unexplained in the writings and manifestations of the mind in the world of words and of poetry , and of dreams.

I agree with you, I think we have lost something that I certainly remember. Caring for others, the simple things in life, just breathing....Love your poetry, as always.

Have a wonderful day....

Jesus said the world will know us by our love for one another and that love has been centered on self and a few others that humans choose to love.

ahorseback, I hear your cry for some kind of semblance and madness to the world around us. Unfortunately mankind has been unkind to mankind since the beginning of time, when he fist started walking upright. He took the club in his hand and has never laid it down. Wars have been fought and blood let at great costs.

Mother nature has taken care of the rest and technology has disrupted mankind, we are avarice, greedy, selfish and inhuman to one another on a daily basis. So as poets, we write of our feelings, the injustices in our world, the beauty, the coldness, the hate and the abuse.

Thus I write, knowing that the day is coming when I to will slip to the other side into the next dimension. Yet while you and me and many others are still here, let us rejoice the living, and live each day to the fullest. Sharing our stories, verse and songs.

Let us uplift one another as poets, and continue to reach out and LOVE our fellow son/daughters/man/woman and child...peace and blessings to you my friend...
