Try To Live Again

Find the girl inside you

Take a look inside yourself.,

as deep as you can go.

Find the girl you buried,

You cannot let her go.

You think you now are hopeless,

because that girl has gone,

But you´re the one that buried her

So is she really gone?.

You´ve done your best to hide her,

because you THINK she´s gone,

Now think of how she was,

How was she when she shone?

She helped the sad and lonely,

taught illiterates to read

filled her life with giving,

helping anywhere there was a need.

I know you´re sad and lonely

like the people you once helped,

But surely if you dig down deep

You can give yourself that help...

For deep down lies that same strong girl,

A woman with a heart,

Your days to shine....they may have gone,

Other problems beckon,

But as you deal with present woes

The óther you´still reckons,

That she´not dead within your soul,

Her life. It is not over,

It´s different, that is all

You haven´t lost that other girl,

you just need look inside you

You loved your life and now it´s hard,

That things can´t be the same,

But while you´re breathing, there is hope,

Life can be good again.

Remember how you were

and let it give you power

Not sadly looking back

at what was you finest hour.

Despondent is not a healthy state

and you´re finding yourself therein,

Find that girl inside you,

Don´t let depression win.

The truth is , darling and SURE it´s true

It´s harder to help yourself.

So find that girl inside you

as though you´re someone else,

You need her to help you now,

to find yourself again

I know that you can find her

Dig deep inside

Go find her.

You know she´s there,

You know she´s you.,

This is very powerful. You reached deep inside you for this and the little girl handed it to you. She is smiling now.

Hi,

This poem does make you realize that we never change. Here I am at 61 and don't feel any different to when I was 21! I look slightly different because you cannot prevent nature from taking place.

It's how you think that is the secret and to be honest I feel like a re-cycled teenager!

hi, Janhorner,

Thank you for a comment that made me smile We are exactly the same age. Whe I saw the pic of the girl with long plait and flowers in it, I was looking at myself. In the mirror there is no resemblence. In my heart it is me except my hair was auburn.

I love the expression re-cycled teenager. Cheers.

Very beautiful and inspiring poem. Your words reach deep within and have the power to touch all who read your beautiful prose. It is important to never forget who we really are at our core. Your hub gives a renewed strength to all who struggle on many levels. Thank you for sharing this.

...love your poetic sentiments here because this could also apply to the 'boy in me' - and your words have such poignant beauty - actually brought a lump to my throat and tears to my eyes - great writers do that to me - and you just happen to be that great writer - and person in my (hub)life ..... sending you my best wishes from lake erie time 12:45pm ontario canada

Thank you so much Epi. I don´t feel anywhere close to being a great writer, but I thank you for the compliment.

Take care.

.....returning to this classic my dear Dim of the divine - because I loved the title so much and the words are really to die for - I wish I had written this piece - it's so intimate in detail but rewarding in its sentiments - hubbravo once again to you for writing this one.

And yes it's 9:19am by lake erie canada and we are in full fall mode -although I am still entertaining the thought of going into the water each day - the dips are quicker because the air is cooler but the water is still relatively warm. My cats are both fine and sleep on the bed with me each night and I am hoping for another relatively mild winter as the weather up to now has been mild and settled but that could all change in a heartbeat.

sending you warm wishes and good energy from Colin, Tiffy and Gabriel

Hi Colin,

Thank you so much for this. I can´t think of a better compliment than ´´ I wish I´d written this piece.´´

You mean a lot to me. Hope you go ahead an have a brief swim.

Love to Tiffy and Gabriel, and all the warmest wishes I can give to you, dear friend.
