Turpentine - An Original Poem

We all must realize that nothing stays the same forever

Peace falls into war everyday. Sometimes we just can't survive.

I have written this for a friend- For the broken hearts, I have written this for a friend

Here isn’t where it started,

Today is another Sunday afternoon.

It feels the same to me,

It feels so new.

More words are shouted.

They cut like knives.

We become enemies.

I am turpentine.

No longer able to see past what is wrong

The days repeat.

Weeks can't be repaired.

We both wonder why we have stayed to be bothered,

and why we are still here?

More anger than laughter.

This is not the same.

Too long has passed,

Since we cared if we could be saved.

Two separate lives.

Joined as one.

Wonder if this is destiny,

Or if there could be another someone?

Memories don't make up the future-So why do we hold them so tight?

Memories remind us of where we came from, but they are not what the future holds. Sometimes we must let go of what is no longer real in life.

Some things in life hurt

But your relationship shouldn't

Life doesn't have rewind

How did we become this way?

When did it go wrong?

No one is right.

We both can't be wrong?

Silence is peace.

Moments without fights.

When we begin to speak,

We become turpentine.

Burning from within.

The hate that is sin.

Too much has happened,

We can not begin again.

You can only begin once

The start only happens once.
The start only happens once. | Source

No healing in revenge

Shadows of heaven,

Dancing in the dark,

We are our demons,

We tear each other apart.

Show me you still care,

I can't show it first,

the revenge of yesterday,

Lingers in the dark,

Leave or live with the poison

I close my eyes.

Hold onto my breath.

Bite my tongue.

Create a moment more than this.

We should never be unsure,

If we can survive another fight,

I lose a little more of me,

We have become the poison of turpentine.

Perhaps the run is over and our ending has arrived?

Save your soul and find an exit away from the poison of your turpentine.

Billy- Thanks so much for reading and commenting. I miss writing and posting on HubPages. I really want to start getting back into the habit of writing for pleasure, not just for work. Writing on my own, I feel makes me more productive with generating content for clients. Great to see you still here- so many I once knew, are now gone :(

Hi Holly, I enjoyed this poem. It is quite powerful and easy to relate to. I see it's also your most recent hub. I hope you have the time to get back into writing more regularly here. Voted up.
