Sunny Quotes

“It is a time of quiet joy, the sunny morning. When the glittery dew is on the mallow weeds, each leaf holds a jewel which is beautiful if not valuable. This is no time for hurry or for bustle. Thoughts are slow and deep and golden in the morning.” ~ John Steinbeck

LOVED THIS! I have struggled with Haiku, even though it shouldn't be difficult to use or understand. You use the form so well. And I love the quotes, magnifying and supporting the meaning of the Haiku. Used to such effect with finesse. Stunning!

Hi Augustine,

Oh Wow! I'm blushing clear across the country! I haven't done this since high school and had to refresh my memory by doing some research on Haiku. Am absolutely thrilled that you like the poems and thought the whole hub worked well together. It was surprisingly fun writing them.

Thank you for making my day as sunny as I tried to make this hub. I've got that warm and fuzzy feeling this morning and I'm going to bask in it for awhile.

I think that we are all going to come out winners because it's turning out to be an inspiring and uplifting experience rather than competitive and cut throat.

Dear Gail - It just gets better and better! You continue to "top yourself" with each new hub and yet every single hub you write is perfection in every way. Where do I begin? The three Hiku Poems are brilliant. The photos are perfectly paired. I enjoyed the videos and love both songs by both artists. The quotes weaved a golden thread throughout.

Only one way to vote - Up and across (not funny) and definitely sharing. Thank you Gail...so very much!

Hi Gail... I think I had better start slapping my hand for not getting around to reading other writers the way I should be. This hub is an excellent reminder we all need to take a look around us and enjoy what is there.

Love your beautiful flowers, the poems...but the last one made me sad. The pink blooms were so beautiful, but they'll be killed by the frost...yes...

Listening to John Denver still...really enjoy that song. But could not get the second video to play, just FYI.

Thank you for a bit of happiness in floral, word and music!

Happyboomernurse profile image

Happyboomernurse 4 years ago from South Carolina Author

Hi Frogyfish,

What an insightful, thoughtful comment which adds a new layer of depth to the hub itself.

Yes, those pink blooms are beautiful, but will be killed by the frost. We are all beautiful, but death will come to us one day, too, and for some it will be at the height of youth.

That John Denver song has always been particularly bittersweet to me. It was based on a movie about a young woman who was dying from cancer but trying to live her last days to the fullest. She craved to live the end of her days in "Sunshine" and also leave a beautiful legacy for her baby daughter- a small book of letters written to the child she would not be able to watch grow up.

I was in my late teens when the movie and song came out and my first love was dying from cancer.

The morning of his death was sunny and I stepped outside for a 10 minute "break" while hospital staff tended to him. I'd been feeling so anxious, but the sunshine was brilliantly exploding all around me, extraordinarily bright, beautiful and calming. It was spring, and every flower, every blade of grass, seemed to raise my spirits up. I walked with tears streaming down my face fully aware of life's fragile beauty and the sun's soothing powers. When I returned to my beloved's bedside, he had slipped into a coma while I was gone and died within the hour. I shook all over and felt like I was going to collapse until I walked back out into the sun.

Looking back on this memory from the wisdom of age and my current beliefs, I would say that sunshine was God's arms wrapped around me with incredible love.

Thank you for your words, as you can see they touched a soft spot in my heart. Through those words, I could "feel" your sensitivity to nature, and passion for life.

I wish you peace, happiness and love.

Also, thanks for letting me know about the second video. I couldn't get it to play either, so will have to remove it.

Hub Hugs,

Gail

Gail, what precious memories, words, attitude you show. You as a retired nurse, have seen much pain and sorrow...had to have developed some protective shell to survive handling that pain you dealt with as a nurse; the kind of person I would want to care for me...

And then the pain of youthful experience in losing your first love to cancer...inexperienced, innocent and ignorant of what Life held. You have chosen, grown, and shared the love you have gained. Obviously your inner self has grown in love, gratitude, appreciation of nature and people, and love of God - with all the warm sunshine He has cast on your path.

May every storm have its rainbow, and may every blossom not be thirsty. You are blessed, and appreciated: Your words are beautiful, shining from your inner glow. Keep it up!

Dear Frogyfish,

Thank you so much for your generous warmth of spirit and your support and inspiration.

I read this a second time and enjoyed it every bit as much. The comments add so much to this!

I also lost my first love but it was in an instant. He was a Navy pilot and was killed in an air accident in Pensacola. I had driven up to Corpus Christi to stay with a girlfriend...and obviously spend more time with him. We were talking about marriage. When the knock came on the door and two uniformed Navy young men met me...well, you know the rest. Yes...life is fragile and we must make the most of every day that we have whether they be cloudy or bright.

Reading about your experience...that warm sunshine must truly have felt like a hug from the Creator of us all. Sharing this hub with others.

Hub hugs to you!

My Dear Peggy,

Thank you so much for coming back and sharing your personal story about the painful loss of your own first love.

Yes, life is fragile and those of us who experience early losses become more aware than most that living each day to the fullest ensures that we live with passion, purpose and meaning. It also ensures that we appreciate the beauty that surrounds us more fully than we might have otherwise done.

Sending you a bouquet of Hub Hugs & Love,

Gail
