Child Abuse - The Story of Two Little Girls

What A Sadness

©2012 LaDena Campbell aka justateacher

I can’t believe it happened again

When will all this nonsense end!

Children should be treasured and loved

Not to be abused or disposed of

Another little girl that in my room

Has a home life steeped in doom

Someone is hurting her badly

No one will listen to her sadly

She came to school in lots of tears

Told me of all her childhood fears

Told me that someone was touching her in places

Said that at night she kept seeing these faces

Of the one that hurts her every night

Said that no one listens to her plight

She told her mom and then her dad

They said she was lying and being bad

Said that she was accusing lifelong friends

Wanted to know when her lies would end

My little sweet faced scared young girl

Had no one to turn to in her little world

So she decided that she would try to trust me

Hoping I could make the bad girl let her be

I asked if she knew the woman’s name

The one that hurts her so bad she will never be the same

When she told me who was touching her beyond her will

Those words, they haunt me still

I imagined a monster in this world

When I found out, the “monster” was another little girl…

This is so heartwrenching. I hate that our children have to experience this hurtful abuse. Go glad the little girl told on the monster. They can both be helped.

I sure hope that both of these little ones can be helped...it makes me wonder what has happened in the "monsters" life to make her act in this way...

Chances are excellent, as you well know, that abuse spawns abuse....it would not shock me in the least to find out the monster has been abused....sadness, tragedy and it never seems to end.

billy - you're right..I wouldn't be surprised if she were abused as well - this year I have had to report more abuse than in the last 5 years combined...it's sad..

Just, that's appalling. I read a statistic once that said that 1 in 3 American girls and 1 in 7 boys are molested before the age of 14.

That tugs on my heart. It is a beautiful poem. The plight of so many children keeps me praying for them.

Its hard to think that with all we've done in education, raising awareness and educating our kids better that abuse is still so frequent...but it is!!

Well done with your very poignant, well written poem, and for bringing it to our attention...and for believing in the little girl...Keep up your diligent work, it's so needed!! Cheers

molly, kebennett and carter - we definitely need to raise awareness for child abuse of any kind - and it seems that the problem is getting worse each year...it's sad...

It really breaks the heart when cases like these surface. It is so good of you to bring out such cases and motivate us to stay alert!

Your work evokes conscience and morale :)

It's so heart-wrenching when we hear of this sort of thing happening and we often feel so helpless; often it seems impossible to do anything about it. It's good to bring these things out so that people are made more aware of the danger.

Justateacher, what a heartbreaking poem. And what a situation to face. I am sorry because I know from experience how hard it is to get to the bottom of these situations, as a teacher. Good for you, for bringing this to light.

This is so sad to know what children have or had to endure so many times by the people they trust it hurts me so much and i get angry to know that these predators go free. Unfortunately in this one was a little girl herself doing it to another which means this little girl got some vice from somewhere and she swares what she has been doing was right.

Thanks for sharing, we need to pray more for children like these
