"Underachievers" ( an inspirational poem)

The brilliant...
The brilliant...
The innovators...
The innovators...
The true achievers...
The true achievers...
The brightest lights of all humanity...
The brightest lights of all humanity...
The highest limits of the human spirit shown...
The highest limits of the human spirit shown...
We are so blessed by the geniuses of this world...
We are so blessed by the geniuses of this world...
Challenges all met, in their plan...to all condone...
Challenges all met, in their plan...to all condone...
In the struggles of this life there are winners and achievers of the grandest that our life has to hold.. and OUR GOING ON....
In the struggles of this life there are winners and achievers of the grandest that our life has to hold.. and OUR GOING ON....

Those shunned, the small children who seem to lag behind,

Their true abilities, its length and breadth, is so undefined.

Ask Da vinci, Michelangelo, Rodin, or Alexander Graham Bell,

Their struggles to grandly succeed, and only in time would tell.

The small babes, the searchers, with such a wandering mind,

In this life to seek and fall far behind, yet, in new depths to find.

Ask a Brockovich, Matlin, a Wonder, or Franklin D. Roosevelt,

How their disabilities, those harsh challenges, by them, so delt.

What great wonders, fabulous designers, will their futures hold,

Never, now as underachievers, have defined our lives... to mold.

Curie, Edison, Einstein, and G.Washington, each may so testify,

Their greatest contributions to mankind, as examples, to verify.

The future now, on our gifted ones to rely, and now so depends,

Despite name calling, put-downs, ignoring... now to make amends.

Bright and shinning stars of life, revealed in every student's mind,

The magnificent, the glorified in name, by acts, very soon to find.

Milton, Beethoven, Hawkin, Disney, Runyan, Vango, Newton,,

Nash, Ford, Grandin, Keller, Picasso, Churchill, Bolton...

An endless list of the greatest in arts, and in all inventiveness,

Standing together, not alone, as the human spirit's ingeniousness.

Forever, our indebtedness, to these leaders, ultimate succeeders, so grand,

They've extended the searches of man, its farthest reaches, help to understand.

A universe, its stars and widest galaxies, before each mind, a resourceful hand,

Its challenges, no unsolved answers, to escape the most worthy, in their plan.

"UNDERACHIEVERS" THAT MAKE US ALL BELIEVERS...

Loved this one especially so. I am partial to Edison as he lived in Michigan ( like me) and was home schooled because he was so dull. Well done and I'm inspired!

As a former teacher of the educationally challenged, I felt compelled to write this as a tribute to them and others who continue to struggle in our schools. Blessings to all. whonu

I believe there is no such thing as an underachiever. Who sets the bar? How is each child measured?

My son is ADHD and didn't do well in school. However, he has a very analytical mind. He amazes me with the things he can do by connecting his mind with his hands.

Underachievers, only by the standards of those before them...

If it were not for the so called "underachievers", we would still live in the dark ages rather than having progressed as far as we have as a society. whonu

Bravewarrior I'm sure that your son will be a success. I taught many children over the years who were ADHD and I was often astounded by how truly bright and self motivated they were. The greats of the ages have had some issues to overcome and did so with amazing results. Most great inventors, many writers, actors, and those who you would never expect that they were ADHD, or educationally challenged, are to this day, very successful in their lives. Every child has strong points and learn in their own way throughout school. Blessings to you and yours my friend. whonu
