Understanding Me- a poem
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
I can only tolerate my own inequity,
in me my darkest fears align,
with all the love that a mind can bear,
to balance a life sublime.
For it is not perfection that I seek,
merely to recognise it lives within,
and a blessed soul begin.
I fear most how I’m seen to be,
confused and without control,
yet every pain and strife I’m in,
by my hand makes me whole.
In essence I am an open mind,
to hurt, to shame and love,
all of which is my chosen path,
my heart to rise above.
In many ways I do not fit,
the designs of other life,
for my path of sight is fraught with pain,
and the throws of earthly strife.
What I do and feel and see
is neither special nor contrite,
it is simply my souls vision,
eyes open in the dead of night.
There is no choice, no stance of right,
within this path of mine,
my heart is all that counts in life,
my circumstance remind.
