Velvet Night (A Poem)

Velvet Night

A soft and silky night...

The sultry voice of Melissa singing "Midnight Blue,"

Even the flickering light seems to touch your face.

Oh, your soft face in the light...tonight.

And talking about us, the way foolish people do.

Just a quiet evening spent with the right person; in the right place.

The whispering breeze, and the palms dancing in the light.

Staring into the windows of your soul-- just seem to be lost in you...

Morphing into a pair of lips, brushing against your face.

Basking in the glow of the candlelight.

Even the seductive rain, seems to trace the outline of you...

Trapped in a warm, wet embrace--

Droplets stream down...between us...being held so tight.

Your voice always makes me feel, like we're brand new.

Feeling you sway with such style and grace...in our embrace.

Without a single star in the sky-- tonight.

We don't need to be against the world...just me and you.

The way the light touches your face--

In the warm glow of the night.

Only me whispering to you...the words of "Midnight Blue"...to you.

You're trying so hard to hide the smile on your face.

Just holding you...feels just so right,

So tell me... tell me true, what is it about you?

The warm glowing light around your face.
