Wing-Walker
By: Wayne Brown
I fly with Waldo Pepper and we’re coming to your town
We’ll fly about your skies with propellers spinnin' ‘round
Our flying circus will fill you with both pale and awe
We’ll entertain you up in flight and do it without flaw
I lean back against the pole holding the guy wire of the wing
Airplane rolls down the grassy strip and I hear the engine sing
Way up in the sky, far up over your head, I walk the wing so free
You stand down upon the ground afraid filled with fear for me
The pilot makes a low pass on the crowd assembled on the ground
I stand high atop the bi-wing as he rolls the plane upside down
Screams and moans are heard from all around the crowd
Seeing that I’m all right, then they cheer and clap real loud
I stick like glue to that wing as I step my skyward dance
I came here to entertain you, all I require is the chance
You call me courageous, a fool, an idiot, running out time
But you wish you could do it too if the courage you could find
When I get back upon the ground, they run to greet me there
It’s as if I was an angel with a halo glowing up above my hair
Through my flying stunts this big crowd lives so precariously
They think me brave out on that wing, my fear they never see
We’ll pack our tents and fly away to head for the next towns
The Great Waldo Pepper Flying Circus and his wing dancing clowns
And in every stop we make, yet another crowd will gather nearby
To watch me walk upon the wing and dance free up in the sky
