"We Are A Nation"

We are a nation gone under,
gone asunder,
left to wander,
left to wonder.
Like moths to the flame,
like pieces in a game.
We follow the leader
like sheep to the slaughter,
not knowing any better--
when we see the blood stains,
red and full of murder.
They kill us in our sleep,
they kill us in our dreams.
They take away our everything.
In a land that is supposed to be free,
we are kept in chains.
We
are slaves to the government,
we are victims to their crimes--
of lies and deceit, and thievery.
We have reached rock bottom,
it is time to rise,
and break free of this slavery.
We are a nation, we hold the power.
This is our time, this is our hour.
Place your votes, and place your bets,
get out your spears and nets.
Pick your poison and choose it well,
another 4 years living in hell...

Nikki,

I have always been attracted to the simple vision of libertarian thought but I fear that in practice it would be a disaster. Their ideas are utopian in nature and utopian visions, as seductive as they are, never seem to work in the real world. I could just as easily be attracted to the ideas of Carl Marx, as well, and we all know what that led to . . .

beautiful poem . Nikki. but if obama is elected we will go down .. that is the reality. we need change . If the moron ahead of me would just realize as me and you do we are in disaster right NOW and headed for arrmegeddon.

Definitely need change. Obama definitely did not CHANGE things for our benefit as he promised. Between him and Bush i dont know which one was worse. We need to get him out of there, but I also do not feel Romney is the better choice, I think the libertarian way could work if we had the right person/people in office. and doing things for right reasons. Government spending definitely needs to go down, government paid jobs like teachers, police, firemen, soldiers, need a pay raise, and the government officials a pay decrease. How are we a country in debt when celebrities and football players get paid millions and billions of dollars? I think our priorities are a lil screwed.

jhamman – I hope you keep the faith - and also, keep it all in perspective . . . bad governments, bad industrialists, bad banks and bad times have been a staple of America since 1776 (and in colonial times to) – the dark days of the Civil War and the Great Depression are just two examples. There have been times when things were much worse than they are today - just look at our history (not the sugar-coated history of some) and you will see that we can and will trek on.

Hey Cleaner - when you get to Armageddon, send me a postcard - I will still be here in the USA . . .

I have faith in God...in humanity not so much... and especially not in our government. Armageddon wont be for lifetimes, we are just digging ourselves deeper and deeper into shit til then.

Hi Nikki (Nice to see your work again)

I'm not really qualfied to make justifiable comments about the USA, on the political front that is, as I'm form the UK and now living in Germany. But what I can say about politicians in general is that it doesn't matter if they are green, brown, yellow, black or white they are all the same and are business people. As you know business people are in business to make money and fill their pockets.

Normally Bosses do this over many years, but as politicians only have a 4 year term they have to move more quickly.

I don't know if you realise, but the word "Politic" comes from old Greek and when broken down into two parts, we have:

"Poli" in the Greek language means "Many" (a lot)

"Tic" in the Greek language means "Lier's" ( the teller of lies)

So put it all together and you have "Many Lier's " which just about sum's up Politics the world over, and it doesn't make a difference which partie is in power. Power being the optimal word.

You have a few hard days ahead of you all. I hope you get what you want.

How are you keeping Nikki? Long-time-no-see.

LOL Ghaelach

wow thanks Ghaelach for that informative comment. Politics definitely is full of liars. This is why i dont like to get involved in any of it. I hate being lied to and its even worse when its from your own government. Power and money is what they are after not our welfare. This country is going to shit as the years go by. We need a very dramatic change in a better direction. Cleaner and brblog come on now, play nice. We can all agree that this country is headed for destruction, but it will take a long ass time, slow process to get there. We just have to try and do what we can to help out. Go Green, vote third party/independent, recycle, ask the hard questions, and stand up for our rights!

The politicians seem to not even listen to voters and the people that matter. There is a list of priority and the public should be the top of the list and not the bottom. but this is the same in other countries. I would say half of all the friends I have who are eligible voters here did not cast a vote as they felt it would do nothing to improve things. that's how much apathy there is amongst young people.

People are not persuaded by the arguments any more. One person's argument preference is another person's vested interest. "You say potato..." LOL.

But Nikki, at the end of all the things said, life is not something I want to give up just because some parts of it suck. I still think there are still things worth living for and believing in. It is so tempting to fall asleep in the hope of things getting better in politics. You are weary from watching the rhetoric of failure beat down constantly on others and we understand. The fact that you write about it shows that you care. *Hugs ya* Have a sweet day, Nikki.
