We Never Stand Alone

By Tony DeLorger © 2012

I often ponder the vastness of the world before me,

each breath the sigh of living trees,

embracing my life with a tender knowing,

an acceptance of each part of this, our landscape of consciousness.

Each and every speck of light a reflection of life's banner,

forms and textures individual to each existence,

seen and understood as a place distinct and miraculous,

an expression of growth and change in motion.

We can so often isolate ourselves from the truth,

ignore the fact that we alone cannot exist,

without each plant, each cell, each molecule of life around us,

an eternal transformation of symbiosis.

Yet in ignorance we judge and manipulate our own lives,

to qualify our base reasoning and justify actions,

to better our own stance or perceived dominance,

when all along we are but a glimmer of light on an eternal horizon.

A misnomer of the highest order is the word humility,

taken hastily and arrogantly from 'human',

perhaps not yet earned and more something to aspire to,

in realising what we have been given and what we truly are.

The complexity of life is only surpassed by our understanding of it,

trying to grasp the equations of existence by definitive reasoning,

yet it is the acceptance of the whole that is required,

that we are not above , not below, but a part of the majesty of life.

Truth, Ignorance, Arrogance

Acceptance, Growth, and Humility...

This poem touches the libra in me, Tony - we humans with so much promise that seemingly get in our own way!

Gor-geous pix!

Thanks whonunuwho; glad you related. Most human problems come from the fact that we somehow believe we are more important than all other life. That arrogance and ignorance may well be our undoing in the end.

Have a great day.

A beautiful testimony to life and all that makes it what it is..the greatest mystery that all of mankind, in all of the intellect that we have been given, can never really fathom or come to understand its reality.
