What Surrounds a Mind

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Standing not far from the edge,

I can see more of what can transpire,

both from behind,

and ahead into the abyss.

The decision being

not so much between the two,

but whether to stand at all,

whether to accept the choice.

Nothing in life is black and white,

good or bad, still or in flux, definitive or inconclusive,

and therefore I choose elsewhere to invest my faith,

a chosen path on which my life will ensue.

I shall invest not in the paths of men,

who strive for gain and power,

who starve the potential of compassion

by nurturing the self alone,

and I shall invest not in the ideals of such men,

blinded by the simplicity of love,

and the calling of the natural world,

that examples the cause and affect of balance.

I shall remain the pariah in my refusal,

my abject denial of this choice,

rather, I choose my own vision of rightful servitude,

to the potential of harmony,

regardless of ill-intent and contention,

and within my moral bounds.

Whether accepted or not,

perhaps judged as a non-conformist,

I shall fight for my thoughts of possibility,

until it is done, we are done,

destroyed or resurrected,

life extinguished, wanting,

or reality finally acknowledged and accepted.

Until then I choose not to sit upon a fence,

rather, build my own fences,

with gates abundant.

Follow no-one, find your own path, for it is your path alone.

Forever the philosopher, Wayne, and yes I'm sure we could. You just can't fight what's in your nature. Thanks my friend.

I get the impression that you and I could get into some very deep discussions! Lol.

Wonderful work, Tony.
