What is BEAUTY, Really?

Is Beauty Only Skin Deep?

Youth is beauty says my tired old skin,

Apart from beauty that comes from within.

Youth and energy, now is a dream,

I have to accept that how I have been,

Will not be again.

Not in the same way.

But that doesn't mean,

I should "Call it a day!".

My first GREAT grandson.
My first GREAT grandson.

Different age. Different Delights.

60 plus Seniors are lively these days,

No need to feel old and set in your ways.

Embrace the freedom that older age brings.

retire when you can and do other things.

I never had time to write like I do,

I never had time to relax with you.

We both were so busy.....

By the end of each day,

We both were so tired,

there was little to say..

All that has changed and we're still together,

So let's just enjoy loving forever.

None of us know how long that will be,

So forget all the creams and I'll just be me.

Wrinkles will come , or are they here yet?

You never worry. You never fret.

You still look at me as when i was a girl

For that I am grateful.

LET OLD AGE UNFURL !!

Awesome, yes, let us just grow old as we will and enjoy each day. Beauty comes from the heart, and to me that is what really makes one beautiful, but I know in the world's eyes, beauty is focused too much on outward appearance. I love that "Different Age Different Delights" and how true!!! Honestly, I would not want to go back to being so very young, as I am enjoying each different stage of my life as I grow older, as you say, "different delights"!

You have a lovely great grandson and you are lovely inside and out too!

Voted up ++++ and sharing

God bless, Faith Reaper

Dim Flaxenwick,

This is tremendously beautiful! When we see through to the heart; there is no aging! Your heart has the wisdom of a thousand years but the youth of a newborn baby!

Hugs,

Cat

Awesomme Dim.. Life is what you make it .. it is sad that we don't realise it until we are older than we were before .... because when we are young we live in the moment.... never worrying about the future.. as we age we see that our mortality is coming and we realise that we should again try to be young and live in the moment ..

Yes beauty comes in all forms at all ages, regardless of wrinkles or overweight or underweight. We all have our gifts to share at any age. I am entering my senior year this year and feel just as healthy as I did at 20 I am not on any medications, a few minor sore joints here and there, but all in all my body is in pretty good shape. It's my mind that is tired and haunted, yet I suppose I should be happy? Because my soul comes out in my writing and some seem to like what I pen. Enjoy your life Dim and keep smiling, sharing and loving life, together you and yours will live in glorious harmony. Peace and blessings I send you this day.

Hi Vincent. I appreciate you taking time to read and comment. A lovely comment it is too.

It's not easy to be happy when your mind is still haunted by the past. , but you have such a gift. I wish that your writing did as much good for you as it does me and many, many others.

I am so glad to know you , as much as we can know someone by the written word.

God Bless.

voted up, awesome and beautiful...including the words, the sentiment and the pictures.

Physical beauty IS only skin deep. True beauty comes from within, but most people prefer to only accept what they can see with their eyes.

I, too, am old and physically failing and there is no physical beauty left here, and no-one to see the inner beauty that was visible when i worked all those years as a nurse. Was it all worth the effort? I certainly would like to think so.

But the youth of today have no respect for the aging and we are seen only as a burden on society by them and our government. (with the exception of our family unit, of course)

I loved the poem, is made me happy and uplifted the spirit, if only for this day.

''Youth is truly wasted on the young'', but we never learn the true meaning of that comment until we are too old to enjoy the things we should have when we were young.

Yes! And just as well, too. Was it Keats who wrote that 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? I know he wrote: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever," and so it is! Love your poem.

A friend of mine and I were just talking about how the concept of what is beauty changes over time. At one time, a healthy girl was more desirable than a skinny girl. With more people living longer, our perceptions of age will change as well. All around beautiful hub! Most definitely Voted Up!

Best Always,

Kim

Hi ocfireflies.

How true,. Looking at "beautiful" women in an art gallery of 18th and 19th century painters would send shivers down the spines of todays anorexic looking models.

Hi Gream On..!!!!!!

Since old age comes along whether we like it or not. (The alternative is worse, right?) We might as well embrace it.

Thanks for commenting.

If the truth be told,

Getting old should not get old.

Gather moss, gather mold.

Live large, be active, be bold.

See things you've never seen.

Be what you've never been.

And in the end,

Dare to begin again.
