What is Left?
What is Left?
By Tony DeLorger © 2011
What’s left from man’s unquenchable soul,
the need to win and conquer whole,
what remains in waste and devastation’s toll,
a right to the gift of life.
It is love in all its glorious strength,
that elevates a soul at length,
giving reason beyond what hate has sent,
to an earthly life worth living.
The ideal of love and an open heart,
is all we needed from the start,
and it remains our saving grace,
to justify this human race.
When all that’s been is torn away,
the hurt and oppression that dictates our way,
the answer to all our pain, dismay,
is compassion from a loving heart.
Without it we on planet earth,
earn not the right to life, besmirch,
the very core of being we
have taken for granted, too blind to see.
When wars alive and hate derives
the pleasures of this life contrived,
then time has wasted to ultimate cost
and we as beings in life have lost.
Two worlds collide.
