What is this I've found .........

Here bending down by the side of the road
discarded like an empty can

I make out the shape of a heart
carefully taking it in hand

Cradling it in my arms I stroke it back
into a slowly beating

Got to be careful with this one
a true lovers soul is fleeting

And in metamorphosis it slowly takes the
form of an injured dove

Oh no another broken lady and fallen from
the graces of love

For just a while I fold her beneath my
own wing and carry her along

Before even I realize it she begins
a sweet and happy song

And yes it hurts to be around such beauty
when her heart can never be mine

Standing at the ends of love I open my
hands and she lifts away in time

Well Ed. This one is a true delight. We can all reflect upon it in our own way.

It's true love indeed when one can let the loved one fly free. An interesting poem - may she fly back to you.

Beautiful. A heart healed by loving hands, that dove though she may not belong to you, she will never forget the person who helped her back to flight.

Ohmygosh, Ed. What a tender, caring, sad, but generous poem. It says more than it says. Good poetry, too.
