When Love Is Gone

Love came and took so much,

the heart and soul,

the very being of her.

Someday it seemed -

that there was half to her,

with him she had been whole.

He had filled her very soul,

then just as quickly taken it all away.

Now she’s just a shell,

someone who in love had fell,

then seen it all go right to hell.

There was music and laughter everywhere,

the world in bright colors.

Now there are just shades of gray,

as the sun rose and set,

but there was no beauty anywhere.

The stars didn’t twinkle,

as they once did

and the moon had lost its wink.

For her it was so difficult to think –

that another empty night,

stretched far and wide.

The days seemed to have stalled,

from the time they said good-bye,

till the time they’d meet again.

She knew it would happen,

she just didn’t know when

and she didn’t know,

how she would take it,

if he had his arms,

about a new love.

Now the hours dragged,

from minute to minute.

There was no reason to smile,

every tomorrow was just another day.

Another day without him in it.

Did he think of her?

Did his heart miss her?

As she languished from day to day,

wondering how she’d ever,

get him out of her mind -

to seek and a new love to find.

Languishing for love. Such a common experience. We all need love. Real life-like poem, Gypsy.

Lost love is a heartbreaking event. Days roll into more days, forever hoping he'll return. Beautiful...

I always say that there is always a sunrise after every dark night. A touching poem! Yes, love is so sweet, and it eventually finds its ways for the loved ones.

At the time, it's hard to believe we'll ever get over the gut-wrenching pain of a broken heart. But, time heals all wounds and opens us up for new discoveries and new love.

Such yearning after what is no longer attainable, but broken hearts can mend when the will-power is there - even if it takes a very long time there is peace and love waiting, just around the corner.

Was it in sincerity a love, or a feeble imitation of love?! So sad when a broken heart continues wondering in delusion.

That is so true Shauna. It's that getting over period that makes you think it will never end.

That's right Blossom.

Happen more often than not Michael. However once a new love show up on the horizon all of that is mercifully a thing of the past.

Thank you Dianna.
