When The Soul Cries - Poetry

When a soul cries

it whispers in to itself

silently it aches for peace

with release

from a life

that feels like hell.

Little parts of days

on end

serious to find a place where

makes everything

feel ok again.

Yet at the end of each day

the injured soul feels raw

and cannot say

what it needs to find a way

just to get by day after day.

To the dark we shout leave!

To the heavens we cry for release.

To the light we wish to see.

Pushing daily

we get up

and pretend

we are well;

pray the fervent prayers we know

to take us from what feels like hell.

In memory of my late son Shaun; who memory will live on forever in my heart.

I read something that said "God gives his strongest soldiers more battles in life because he trusts them to find a way to rise above any obstacle that life hands to them."

In retrospect when I look back at the turmoil I survived from the year 2006 through this present day I realize that without the grace of the "Lord" I may not have survived all of my family losses.

You really have had some rough battles I see and so many so close. You will see them again. The poetry is beautiful and does help bring a release. I started writing about my mom and followed by all I have lost in death and in life and poetry took me over.

God bless you.

Thank you Jackie and God bless. I started writing years before all of this happened and it's so true - writing is a release of emotions we hold inside that can't be conveyed in any other way. Written expression is always so much more than saying words. I'm glad you thought my writing was good enough to comment on.

My heart is so heavy seeing all the losses you've experienced. I too don't know what I'd do without the Lord and my passion for writing and the purging of emotions.

Wonderful poem. You've suffered quite a bit of losses but you're right as long as you hold on to the Lord you'll get through it all. Always remember they are near you and most importantly in your heart. Hugs.

Gypsy Rose Lee;

Yes I have suffered many losses in my life and I do pray and ask the Lord for strength, comfort and healing. I often remind myself of a quote I came across that read "God gives the most battles to his strongest soldiers" which brings me some comfort on most days. Thank you for the hugs - !
