When We Feel Like Lifes Personal Scratching Post

All Shredded And Torn

When a new day breaks

Giving us a fresh new start and a virgin thought

Something so rare a coin collector would be excited

An art teacher proud

Making an English teacher stutter

For the work that you have done has taken shape

You have molded it in the light

Even though many shadows of doubt have been cast

There is not one that will last

For the winners and loosers in life

Are one of the same

It is just where in life you have stumbled upon them

Too early in their career when the dust has not cleared

Too late in life when the body has vanished

It is our role to play the character we have been given

We can improvise and talk with a foreign accent

See ourselves as unhealthy and ridden with disease

Then and then only we can face the struggles that we see

With such energy and power

To cross the land that was left barren with distruction

Finding the littlest flower

That made it's home in the middle of a war zone

One that now will prosper in the new light and with care

Can bare fruit that produces nourishment for a new life

So when all seemed lost and gone

We had to find out what makes us different in some small microscopic way

For it is the littles things that can make the change that will give us the courage and will to press on

With a speed no mechanical device will ever match

This is where life is at

Living on the edge waiting

Waiting for your father to come home when we were young

To telll him everything you have done

So he would be so proud of the son that he raised

Who could lift his head high above all disgrace

Finding love in people that others so conviently missed

Making it your time and a special time

To now reach out with a single hand and feel it being taken

Searching for all your strength to forge on

This is the day that the silence will be broken

A day that others can see it as real pride

That real life is not played but lived with great compassion and interest

Each and every day accepting all the consequences and truimphs

As if they were two different sides of the same trophy that you have been given

One that can never be separated or split

Because it is then we realize what we have missed

You are SO right. These are great words chosen with real emotion and care. Real life should be played with compassion and interest, I agree with everything you say so beautifully in this work. Regards, Mary

That is so, my friend. And some of your imagery here is just lovely and rise above the sense of being a scratching post. -

". . . . a fresh new start and a virgin thought

An art teacher proud

Making an English teacher stutter. . . . ."

Those are really inspired images!

Very nice, Dream On!

I agree - life is precious, and I approach it with just as much passion, enthusiasm, appreciation, and respect as I can muster.

It's a shame and a waste to not hang in and learn everything we can learn, do everything we can do to make it a grand experience.
