When my time ends .............

For My Daughter.......

I am a humble man .....I have known
such pleasure
A life ....happiness....a family
my daughter .......my treasure

And I have told you countless
times ...I will never leave you
No different than now ...or tomorrow
don't give up ....I believe too

Hear my voice and remember me
in waves by the turning sea
Feel my arms around you .....My
promise is eternal ....you will see

Look for me in the setting sun
where west meets the sky
Or in the dew on the leaves when
September makes you sigh

The same blood flows in our veins
the same eye's of blue
When I look at my hands and
wonder .....my wonder is you

No......we are bound in mind ...heart
soul and will always remain
Remember ........the promise .....the gift
all one and the same

What a lovely piece to enhance all your feelings towards and for your daughter. Very endearing. I suspect your time will never end in her heart and soul. Thank you.

This is such a gentle, heart-felt tribute to your daughter and to an obvious closeness, given for her to hold as a true keep-sake for all time. It gives a warm fuzzy feeling.

What a touching poem! My only child (daughter) is 23 now, I raised her mostly as a single parent. I will share this with her. It speaks volumes about a special relationship.

This is a beautiful pledge of eternal love and coupled with another endearing piece by you - "I will steal your dreams", creates a complete picture of powerful parental love. Unconditional and never ending love and protection from a devoted father to his daughter. Just beautiful.

"I will never leave you

No different than now ...or tomorrow

don't give up ....I believe too"

Your way with words, Ahorseback, simplicity, yet deeply profound, never ceases to amaze me. Voting up and SHARING!!

Look for me in the setting sun

Or in the dew on the leaves when

September makes you sigh

The beauty and yearning of this line are captivating--gorgeous!

Audrey Howitt , why we all fear death is at times beyond me , There are times that I find myself resigned from this life and ready for the next. and yet I know thats not a good thing . Just a bit unsettling is all wanting to be remembered ? Funny I just finished reading a book and went to google the author , only to find his obituary in the paper.....Thank you for the sharing!

This is so beautiful...it reminds me a bit of a poem I wrote to my oldest, "To my First Born" and yet has the whimsical, carefree air of another poem I wrote called, Daughter of the Universe. I'm sorry, I don't mean to take away from your work here...it is a beautiful poem to honor the relationship you have with your daughter. Lovely photo of the two of you.

Denice , Thank you so much and of coarse I will check those out , I'm glad you commented on our similar writings ! That means we are alike ! Does it not ? And thats why we're here .......:-}

Of course alike...but, you are much more of a (talented and creative) poet than I could ever hope to be... Still, I do like to give it a whirl when the muse is kind to me. Your work is always heartfelt and touching.
