Where you would be standing......

Entering out into a new day and basking in a
mornings awaiting sun
I am alive in the sounds of the birds
who arrose before me
Yes......yes it looks like the same world as
yesterday ......and the same man here standing
Observing the rise of old thoughts
and new dawns
perhaps that's just the nature of the man
I stand .....
Where you would be standing.......
I have never fully been allowed happiness
and the reason .....enjoying happiness
comes hard ......at the loss of
a sibling ......and I once ,
years later made a friend who talked of you
an old friend of yours amd he said
'"how hard it was for him"
when you died ......My tracks lead
away ahead of you and I
turned often in life ....to see......
Where you would be standing.......
I have never driven down that road
but your golden hair doesn't
reflect in the
visions of lost time and lives
Nor think of a home and family
without knowing the loss of that love......
Where you would be standing.......
I have placed you in so many different
settings in life ........who would you marry.....
how many sons ....daughters
and what kind of man
would show up in our days........
But these are only dreams and there are
nothing but dreams ......
And dreams can never stand......
Where you would be standing.......

Oh ahorseback, this is very evocative of a lost loved one. I hope it is not created from a loss in your own life. It makes me remember the song by Kenny Chesney, "Who You'd Be Today."

Just lovely to read.

Hyphenbird , Yes my dear its a personal story and one I've written of a few times. Of a long ago loss . Though time is not the solution that's claimed. Thank you for understanding.....:-}

I am so sorry to hear that my friend. No, time does not heal wounds nor bring forgetfulness. The scars remain raw and those precious faces youthful and beautiful.

You know when i read this it brought my memories of my Sister Bea, Oh how i miss her. I often wonder what she'd be doing if she were still here. We were so close. She had a Son my age, he's gone too. I know i will see her again in Heaven. Thank you for this beautiful piece.

Always Exploring , I often write of my brother Dougie who was killed at eight years old by a hit and run drunk driver! I was twelve at the time and saw it happen , with time the steady ache and memories of loss go away but the missing them and wondering never does! I know that you understand this one!..Bless you!...:-}

Oh, I do understand and to see it happen, i'm sure the memory stays in your psyche. How anyone can drive drunk is beyond my comprehension. I'm so sorry for your loss. Do you believe you will see him in Heaven? Take care my friend.

ahorseback words can't begin to express my feelings after reading this reflective scribe about the loss of your beloved brother. I can't imagine losing a sibling, although we came close with an illness that my one and only oldest brother recovered from when he was but eight yrs old.

Yes those thoughts must haunt you from time to time the wonder of it all. What kind of man he would be today, may he RIP and you have the knowledge that life is short and we all will meet our loved ones eventually on the other side, that I truly believe my friend. Blessings to you and yours.
