White Birch Dreams........and Wild Mustangs.

Maybe because there was no sound at all
just the horse and I

Lost in the inner visions
I find myself wondering why

The snow falling hard ......flakes as big
as dollar bills

But no sounds nor echoes
off among the forested hills

You can imagine the soft piano keys
in the old drama ..... black and white

Or even a viola swaying along
setting the mood tonight

Though here in natures blessed
solitude I have gained new friends

So what if all my sanity is turned lose to
run to the unbridled ends

Pulling down the saddle..... the blanket
.........lift the reigns and set her free

Nothing but the thundering hooves
and then a silence in the trees

I now can breath in the cold mountain air
as I'm giving up on tomorrow

I will sit here and watch her run from hither
and yonder......no more sorrow

The magesty of her equine presence
belongs here with her own

She will run free........ as I cannot
In my mind it's always been known

She lifts her front legs and twists back
one more time

As if to say" thank you" .......and then
"I'm going be just just fine"

'Dedicated to the free and awesome vision of all the wild mustangs set free once again'

Your top picture could have been taken near where I live. I am amazed at the number of split rail fences around

Wisconsin. I guess there is a reason our county is named Wood county. It seems the Mustang has been a symbol of a free spirit. Nice poem.
