Why Did I Do It

Source

Why?

I love everything you do

There's so much I see in you

You've got so much to give

An incredible life to live

But I said we would be friends

Because I knew that it would end

So tell me. . .

Why did I go and do it

When I said I wouldn't

And why did you have to be

A dream in my reality

You're all I've waited for

The one I could adore

But you're not in love with me

Don't look into my eyes

There I see the things you hide

The things that you don't show

The part of you I'll never know

I can't hold you in my arms

But I will hold you in my heart

And wonder. . .

Why did I go and do it

When I said I wouldn't

And why did you have to be

A dream in my reality

You're all I've waited for

The one I could adore

But you're not in love with me

You're not in love with me

Oh shan, I've been to this horribly lonely place. We can't control our hearts even when we know what's best for it... or at least think we do. I love the way your passion reads through every word! I love it Shan!

The sun isn't shining here today, but I hope that's because I asked to go warm you up :D

Love ya,

Cat

Dearest shanmarie,

What a profound piece here from your heart! The question of why will always be there, but really, if he does not love you, then he is the one missing out, and who wants one who does not love in return. You deserve to be with the One God has planned for you, and this one here, is not he!

Voted up +++ and sharing

Hugs and love, Faith Reaper

Hi, Cat! You're so often the first to visit. Thanks for that. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Sorry, no sun here today either. I was awakened by a thunderstorm this morning and the dog knocking on the door because he wanted in out of the rain. Thanks for the gesture, but I think you need to train your sun a bit better. ;)

I really did enjoy it Shan, but it was bittersweet as I don't want you feeling like this, now or ever... I hope you haven't felt this way since you first wrote it, but these things tend to repeat themselves. Faith's right... you're beautiful and you deserve all the best, so I hope that's what you're getting.

Lol... yeah, I'll have to have a talk with Mr. Sun :D

Thank you, Faith Reaper. You're always a bright ray of sunshine yourself. Always so positive and uplifting! No, this guy was not for me, I suppose, but oh how I wished he was!

Just like a sad part in a movie I had to shut my eyes, so it was hard to finish reading. Great Job!

Aw, thanks, Eric. So, you strike me as someone that would tell me if I wrote total crap, right?

No -- I close my eyes because I am a coward at heart -- you might throw a poem at me!

Sometimes it is so hard to distinguish between what the heart is telling you and what your common sense is telling you. Great work!

Yeah, I suppose it isn't a good idea to try to outsmart your common sense. Thanks for coming by, Wayne!

Truly romantic even the ending is not happy. But you expressed this realistically.

I've been looking for how to describe a quality I like in your writing and the word "immediacy" is coming to mind...the emotions are very present-tense and accessible (not pretentious or melodramatic). You bring the reader right into your thoughts and feelings. This kind of direct writing makes people connect and it makes for great lyric-writing too (which I say almost every time). Great style and strong poem!!! :-) Lurana

Awesome, yet so sad shanmarie. I love this part of your poem..

'Why did I go and do it

When I said I wouldn't

And why did you have to be

A dream in my reality

You're all I've waited for

The one I could adore...'

Oh how many of us have been in this place before, eh? Great poem and writing!! Voted it up and awesome! : )

I love this poem. I think the fact that so many can relate makes the poem appeal to any of us that have made and broke that promise. You have such a gift for creating flow in your poetry. Per usual, very impressed.

Best Always,

Kim

Well actually Shan Marie I am 'attainable' - do you have 'lots' of money?

lol lol

Seriously, I can always see/read your Country music songwriting pedigree in so much of what you write .

Thank you for your (true)grit, honesty, and noble heart.

Hahaha! Actually, no I don't have any. I relate to your situation, remember? And you are 'attainable' for all the ladies. haha

But - as always, thanks for your kind words about my poems!

When love is not two sided it's can be sad and frustrating. Very expressive and I agree it could be a country song.

Haha. Country's not always sad, ya know. ;)

Really, thanks so much for your kind comments and support, Gypsy Rose!
