Win or Lose

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Win or lose I'm just the same,

the lessons learned adjust the pain,

for when I think I'm something grand,

a stinging slap brings me back to land.

The truth in part is experience not end,

that defines what we impart and what we can mend,

in doing all we are at best,

is what's left of us, beyond the test.

In circumstance we lose ourselves,

pursuing goals, perceptions felt,

trying to mend our selfish ways,

in outward shows, with sweetened glaze.

Win or lose I'm just the same,

whether in or not this tired game,

while truth unfolds from each step I take,

it rarely shows at the ends I make.

All in all I'm in for the ride,

I've tried to let go all that self and pride,

and do my best each second I can,

and where it takes me is by my hand.

Profess I must that I have will,

but I try not to let it affect any ill,

instead I'll remain within my head,

in the silence, at peace, its all been said.

You are kind indeed Canscorpion. Glad it took you on a journey. Words can be powerful, even in our subconscious. Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.

Woww....the words are so deep felt...you took me to a ride deep inside me into past and even though this poetry has the tragic aura but it brings out an inner strength! :) and its long i havn't came upon good rhyming...so light yet perfectly fit to each other.

Such emotional depth written in to this poem along with great imagery. The first few lines pull the reader in. So many of us do our best but are stalled with life circumstances where the decisions are left up to us -

Very profound - and a great poem!

If only this can be practiced in life and then the journey would have been so pleasant without the harsh pain in heart. Very nice work. Votes up and sharing too.
