Wishful Thinking - A poem

The queen of light
She was on her reign
Outside her windows
The king boarded a train

In the light of this destiny
The queen took the right
Of liberty

The king was seen
To be aboard
A trolley car to the sea

As the clock struck close to midnight
The queen sung happily

A peacocks wings can be colorful

And you know that it can be said

That your dreams can be wonderful

Not only in your head
Not only when in bed

Sometimes people see things as they change
Sometimes they see what they must see
Sometimes they see things as they are
Just before they see what they see

Quality is a way of life
As the queen put on her gown

The king was struck by a ray of light
As he took before her a vow

Look at things as they are
Not as how you would see them to be

The clocks stroke closes midnight
And the king sung happily

A castle high above the clouds
Such a sight to see

Will the rain fall down from the stars
Or will it wander free

Sometimes people see things as they change
Sometimes they see what they must see
Sometimes they see things as they are
Just before they see what they see

I want to be the Djinni

It was only
Wishful thinking anyway

I really, really liked this poem. It has a sort of magical ring to it. Imagination is a powerful thing.

I agree with Gypsy, this does have a magical ring. Further, I like the message, or one of them. See things as they truly are which is not always easily done. Awesome poetry to be sure.

Blake- Really, really nice poem. Has a medieval, Camelot, romantic, mythical feel to it. Not sure if that makes sense, but all those words came to mind as I was reading it. It also works very well on the level of producing images. Nice work.
