Words That Bite

By Tony DeLorger © 2011

Bemused by words of condemnation,

my thoughts aligned to machination,

suspicion writhes within my soul,

as leaders preach their decisions toll.

Removed from party or creed instilled,

I only see the resulting ills,

contrived by greed and selfish gain,

the paths of men a dark refrain.

Switching stances trite romances,

hollow smiles and puppet dances,

convincing lies and truths untold,

delivered by the tongues now sold.

Listen closely between the phrases,

the demon souls are prompting favours,

evil drips from lips content,

rightful purpose now circumvent.

Righteous fools in positions high,

continue the pledge of deceptive lies,

to forge a path of darkness take,

the liberties and lives of innocents break.

How bleak this power of evil lives,

within the words of leaders give,

directions to these necessary wars,

and we stand idle allow as whores.

Death and destruction without a word,

we give these leaders an open door,

to inflict their power and evil intent,

for the political gain of malcontents.

When will it ever stop?
