It can be very hard to write and get things done when you are depressed. When I say depressed, I am not talking about when you are just feeling a little bit down or sad. I am talking about when you are actually clinically depressed. It can be very difficult to just get things done and achieve your goals. Depression affects millions of people around the world, and it does not discriminate, I have experienced it and there are plenty of others who have experienced it and they don't even know they have it. It is something that does not necessarily have to treated with drugs but that can be treated in many other ways. The main focus of this article is to address how it is possible to write and get things done when you are depressed. I have used a few of these tips and they have worked for me.
Creating a Routine
When you create a routine for yourself it makes things easier to get done. If you don't have anything to do, depression can get worse. So, if you write a list of things to do on a daily basis and try to get them done one by one you will find that each day you feel better.
Take each day as it comes
Don't set yourself long term goals, take each day as it comes. Focus your mind on what you need to get done today and get those things done. Don't think about what you need to get done tomorrow.
Set yourself some goals
If you don't know what you want to achieve then you won't be able to create a plan. Having goals makes life worth living. Deciding you want a particular thing and you are willing to go out there and get it makes it easier to get up every day. Even if you have to drag yourself out of bed on a daily basis. Do it, drag yourself, force yourself to get things done daily and don't allow yourself to sit in bed all day. Lying in bed all day will make you more depressed, trust me I have experienced it myself.
Lastly, exercise. Get up every day and walk for half an hour, get out there. Fresh air and exercise releases happy hormones into the system. Therefore, it is important that you get that exercise done.
