Yesterday I Cried by Iyanla Vanzant: Book Review

Powerful book to add to your power collection

Iyanla Vanzant is an amazing woman, she is not only one of my idols but she is an exceptional writer. The book Yesterday I cried has got me through some seriously tough times. It focuses on the idea that through life, we face troubles and trials, but we have to cleanse our souls and spirits and move on. It is okay to cry while we experience these trials, once we have cried and cleansed we can move on to be a better place. Sometimes it can be difficult to face ourselves and realize that we have to change ourselves in order to change our lives. This book gives you a helping hand. Because Iyanla has been through her fair share of troubles throughout her life. Therefore, it makes you feel like you are not alone.

This inspirational book details some of Iyanla Vanzant’s troubles and trials. Some of the things she has been through makes you sit and think that your life is not so bad. She managed to get herself out of poverty through sheer hard work and determination. She was on welfare for eight years with her children and she managed to face life head on and change her life. The book teaches you that you should use your past issues to help you to grow as a person. Instead of hanging on to your past troubles and dwelling on them, you should make a conscious effort to acknowledge them and use them as a vehicle for growth.

Anyone who has suffered a painful break up, an abusive relationship or abusive past should read this. Anyone who finds it difficult to get over the past and move on towards the future. This book is most definitely for you, I read this book in one day, and I constantly refer back to it for help and guidance with any issues that I might have. I do believe that Iyanla Vanzant has a gift for helping people to see the world through different eyes. I think she has a way of making people feel like life is not so bad. This book is powerful, it is another powerful book to add to any power collection.

She tells you like it is, she hits hard with her words and it does make you feel like you have to get up and do something about your situation. Whether you are having money problems, marital problems or you are just dwelling on the past and you find it hard to move on from it. I love the topic of sprituality and self-improvement. I myself posted a hub yesterday on this topic but it concentrated on females and their power. I admire anyone that can recognize their self-perception and work to change or strengthen it in a positive way. I currently have all the books you posted here and more by the wonderful Iyanla Vanzant. I really got a chance to see her at work, when she was a life coach on "The Starting Over House". That show was inspiring and touched many lives of not only women but females of many ages. Keep up the self-improvement hubs and follow me here on hubpages.

Wishing Blessing to everyone
