You Can Never Pretend To Know

You can never pretend to know
Understanding has its own memory
Time does not wait for those who hesitate
Because yesterday is a forgotten story
But what does time offer except one chance?
For remorse is covered by falling sand
What lives in a mind full of regret is pain
And what lives within time is in your hand

You can never know if you always pretend
What you memorize is never understood
As you hesitate time marches forward
While a story tells of yesterday’s good
When chance arrives will you take the time?
To dig from sand is to uncover your remorse
The pain of a regretful mind will never leave
Unless the spade in your hand alters time’s course

I love this! I always like a poem I have to read a few times, chew on and then see how it adds value to my life... Poetry may be personal but it can also be a mirror into our own life! Beautiful....

Great thought, so short but bullseye. This goes to only one thing: be the real us within us. I'd sum up what I learned here - we can never pretend to know and we can never know if we always pretend.

My votes up, useful and beautiful.... Thank you for sharing this to us. HAPPY VALENTINE:=) -Tonette

Thank you again Tonipet. It is short... sometimes I think, "That's it" and stop writing. HappyValentines to you too!
