You're a Rock

Born with an attitude, headed down

Whispers that said no, no, never a crown

Primitive scribbling on a weight bearing wall

But, you are a rock made to weather it all

============================

Chip off the old block meets with a frown

Angelic rebellion stirs the pot nix the clown

Blue eyes that dodge the medicine ball

You are a rock made to weather it all

============================

Dark water seeps in enough to drown

Venom tongues the talk of the town

Tall tales spun in an illegible scrawl

You are a rock made to weather it all

============================

You and me name a common noun

Don't fit the mould of another's gown

Crumples an invitation to the ball

You are a rock made to weather it all

============================

Step on tears that lie dead and brown

Old foliage enlightens a path to renown

Catching each other should we fall

Love is a rock made to weather it all

============================

Well, I come back home and find a new ' Amy' on the hubs. My breath quickens as I know I'm in for a journey. It is a journey of discovery, of word craft and wizardry, of emotions and turmoil, of beauty in the darkness, of light in the shadows. It's a cry of torment,yet a song of hope. It's a teardrop that caresses a smile. It's philosophy without pretence. It's the raw power of a blood stained birth. There's pain and pleasure, pure air among poisonous fumes. She is an angel of darkness,angel of light. I worry , I weep, I smile, I shudder with pleasure at the way the words caress my mind. I am, as always, in awe.

I am so glad you are back, safe and sound, relaxed and ready to go...the Mohan I adore. You have a way about you that sees the truth yet sees beauty. Never having met you face to face, I feel I know you. Across the miles, I see you in my mirror. Like an enhanced version of how I see things. You see things, feel things and continually grow. I am the one in awe. You are and will always be in my heart. I am elated to see you.

Dear Bill, You bring so much balance and so much heart into everything you write, I consider your words a supreme compliment. You enrich my life. Thank you for your sincerity. The world needs more of you.

Perspycacious, I try to rock and roll with the punches, but I have to tell you something. A short time ago, I was reading one of your pieces and I went to leave a comment and my computer lost its mind. I had to take my computer in and leave it twice! It was close to two weeks before I was back in business. Although I see notifications of your work, I have been seized by the powers of superstition. I am over it now and will visit your fantastic hubs this weekend. Apparently, somehow my computer was attacked by malware and I had a virus that lodged in the boot. Even the computer geeks couldn't say where it came from and now I don't open any emails I am not expecting or from someone I don't know. It was an expensive lesson to learn, but because I am still in the dark about the source, not definitely known, I have been walking on eggshells. Since everything began after a "job hunting" site hooked me up with a scammer, I suspect that is where it originated. I have been told that some of the reputable job sources sell information. Things are pretty bad when even the unemployed, duped by desperation, are considered easy marks and preyed upon.

Thank you for your encouraging support, Perspycacious!

Amy Becherer: Always here for you, computer or not. No other such linkages, so I guess I'm safe. My oldest son has 500 Army computers he is responsible for, so he will tell me, if something goes sour on my end of our link. Hope the job hunting turns successful. You've waited far too long for opportunity to knock, it's time I just knocks down the door and charges in.

From my vantage point, Perspycacious, it appears that we are all on our own. My only income now is my ex mother-in-law, who is 89, blind and a polio victim as a child and my own mother. I help them with chores and driving. I am lucky, as I also enjoy the time spent with them. The job market in St. Louis, MO, despite any verbiage to the contrary, is abysmal. Crime is rampant with daily robberies, muggings and shootings. A young policeman was shot by a burglar a couple of weeks ago and is not permanently paralyzed from the waist down. Sadly ironic, the policeman served two tours of duty in the middle east and came back unscathed only to be gunned down on the mean streets of St. Louis. I appreciate your compassion, Perspycacious. Your words truly help me.

Sen.sush, Thank you for words I love to hear. I read your very interesting movie review yesterday, but wanted to view the short before I commented and was unable to get the movie to play. I think I'll try at YouTube, then come back and let you know your review made me want to see the film.

Dear breakfastpop, I hope your time away was sublime. The few vacations I taken leave me sad it's over, but glad to come home. Exhausting to go and more so catching back up, but always better for the experience. Thank you for giving me your time, fantastic comment and support. You always inspire me to want to write something better the next time!

Your review sounds like you are a pro. It is very detailed, noticing nuances that, more than likely, the casual observer, misses. You certainly managed to peak my interest about the film. I will be sure to view it today and leave a comment at your place.

Takes one to know one, my friend. Your strength is evident in your tenacious spirit of justice and fairness for all. Rock is an interesting analogy. They're strong, but can be shattered. Weathered, but can be worn away. Symbolize strength, but can also be the yoke that increases your burden. I see weathered and beaten, and worn. But still standing. Brilliant.

Beautiful, strong, steadfast, stalwart and courageous. Am I describing the symbol of your exceptional poetry, Amy? Yes! And also you, m'dear. Rock on!

Amy Becherer profile image

Amy Becherer 4 years ago from St. Louis, MO Author

Your words, drbj, are like an exquisitely beautiful, decadently rich candy. Almost too gorgeous to consume, but too enticing to resist. And, when you take the first bite, the core of it melts your heart. Your words are addictive, drbj, haute cuisine for the soul. You make me feel rich. Thank you for your gift, my friend.

Vincent Moore 4 years ago

You were a pebble, then a rock and now a boulder that holds so much love in her heart. I envision you as a very strong woman who courageously stands tall. Your a brilliant artist and both your brushed colors and verse of gifted words bring forth your beauty my friend. As drbj says, Rock on, indeed.

Amy Becherer profile image

Amy Becherer 4 years ago from St. Louis, MO Author

Dear Vincent, I am so selfishly glad that I wrote this piece, because the beautiful outpouring of generosity from you, and everyone who left a comment for me, is what makes me stand tall. If someone had told me about the extraordinary community of sharing at hubpages, I'd have been doubtful. But, participating here among some of the best writers and philosophers on the planet, took me from the depths of despair to the highest point in my life now. I am a pauper in every material way, but the gifts I've received here that make me rich in everything that matters. Thank you, my beautiful poet and friend.
